It was a momentous night as the stars aligned, legends converged, and icons came together at Sine Sandaan: Celebrating the Luminaries of Philippine Cinema. Staged by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), Sine Sandaan aimed to recognize the remarkable service of Filipino producers, directors, artists, and film workers, with special mentions given to the oldest living Filipino film professionals.

The horror film "Motel Acacia," which will have its world premiere at the 32nd Tokyo International Film Festival in Japan (TIFFJP) on November 1, Friday, is touted to be more than just a scarefest.  “As the creatures and monsters in Motel Acacia strike terror in our minds, it is the actions of humans that terrify me. This film seeks to understand our own apathy towards man’s cruelty in today’s society," explains director Bradley Liew.

From November 7 to 9, Instituto Cervantes will be holding the final leg of the PELÍCULA Spanish Film Festival, now on its 18th edition, at the Cinematheque Center in Iloilo City. A selection of films from the Festival will be screened in their original Spanish version with subtitles in English. Tickets are free of charge.

Filipino filmmakers and actors made the country proud as they represented the Philippines in the 32nd Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) Red Carpet and Opening Ceremony in Roppongi Hills, Tokyo, Japan.

Bela Padilla, together with director Paul Soriano, graced the red carpet at the prestigious 32nd Tokyo International Film Festival to represent “Mañanita” last October 28, 2019. Produced under Ten17P and VIVA Films and penned by award-winning filmmaker Lav Diaz, “Mañanita” is among the eight Filipino films featured in the Festival. The drama-suspense film was given a Graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB).

Cinephiles with a penchant for the macabre are in for a treat as Ngilngig Asian Fantastic Film Festival screens films from October 25 to 29, 2019 in Davao City. With a lineup of 57 short films, the audience can look forward to stories of interesting themes, from those on childhood fears, preserving town tales and superstitions, and archiving dreams and imaginations.
