The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is thrilled to announce the international premiere of the 4K restored version of “Jaguar” by National Artist for Film, Lino Brocka, at the 16th Lumière Film Festival on October 12-20, 2024, in Lyon, France.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Philippine Film Archive (PFA) and Cité de Mémoire, this neo-noir crime classic will be showcased in the festival’s Lumière Classics & New Restorations: Treasures and Curiosities section.

“Jaguar” made history as the first Filipino film to be nominated for the prestigious Palme d'Or at the 1980 Cannes Film Festival. It follows Poldo, a security guard who becomes entangled in crime while protecting a wealthy playboy, confronting moral dilemmas and tragic consequences amid class disparity and the destructive pursuit of fame.
