FDCP grants PHP100,000 production fund to Sine Kabataan finalists
MANILA, PHILIPPINES, 21 APRIL 2023 — From over 100 submissions from all over the country, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) proudly announces the 10 official finalists of the 6th edition of Sine Kabataan Short Film Competition.
The finalists will now produce their story concepts with the PHP100,000 production grant provided by the FDCP. The completed short films will have their Philippine premiere at the 3rd Philippine Film Industry Month in September.
20 short film entries were shortlisted and their respective proponents underwent intensive Story Development and Pitching labs to help them improve and further develop their story concepts.
Last April 16, the shortlisted filmmakers pitched their projects before a selection committee composed of director JP Habac, producer Patti Lapus, and FDCP Festivals Division Head Jo Andrew Torlao where the 10 official finalists were selected after careful deliberations.
Aside from the production grant, incentive awards will be given to the finalist who best deserves the following:
- BEST SHORT FILM - PHP 50,000.00
- SPECIAL JURY PRIZE - PHP 40,000.00
- BEST DIRECTOR - PHP 30,000.00
- SPECIAL MENTION - PHP 20,000.00
- AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARD - PHP 10,000.00
The FDCP believes in the unique perspective and insight of the Filipino youth especially on the challenges the society faces today. Through the Sine Kabataan Short Film Competition, the FDCP aims to provide a platform for the Filipino youth to showcase their skills in storytelling, reflective of how they perceive their own realities.
