Italian Cinema Now
The Moviemov_Italian Film Festival is an itinerant showcase that aims to build a platform for the cultural and commercial promotion of the new Italian cinema abroad, especially for the booming Asian market so rich of new opportunities.
After the big success of the past editions, the Moviemov_Italian Film Festival will be back in Manila for the fourth time from 23rd to 26th April 2019.
Created and directed by Goffredo Bettini and organized by Playtown Roma, the Moviemov is realized thanks to the MIBACT (Directorate-General for Cinema of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism) and SIAE (the Italian Society of Authors and Publishers), with the collaboration of the Italian Embassy in Philippines, the Philippine Italian Association, and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).
This year, the Festival will be especially focused on AUTHORS OF CINEMA OF REALITY, presenting at the Cinematheque Centre Manila a showcase of eight (8) of the most representative and awarded movies of the last cinema season accompanied and introduced by actors, directors, and film critics. Lorenzo Richelmy, who played Marco Polo in the Netflix TV series, will introduce the opening film Rainbow: A Private Affair by Paolo e Vittorio Taviani based on a novel by Beppe Fenoglio and premiered in Toronto in Masters section; Silvia Luzi and Luca Bellino will present their Crater after the success in Venice at the International Film Critics' Week and the Special Jury Prize in Tokyo International Film Festival; Agostino Ferrente straight from the last Berlinale with his Selfie and Federica Sabatini now on Netflix’s Suburra 2 will present We'll Be Young and Beautiful that was selected in Venice Critic’s Week.
The Festival will also focus on the educational component that will include an encounter with the students about Italian and Philippines Cinema Now and a Masterclass by the film critic and journalist Mario Sesti about the Cinema of Bernardo Bertolucci, Oscar-winning director, screenwriter, and film producer, considered one of the world's leading Cinema Master.
