FDCP to conduct the nationwide MMFF Student Short Film Competition
MANILA, PHILIPPINES—In celebration of the 50th edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is conducting the MMFF x FDCP Student Short Film Competition, a nationwide platform for student filmmakers to harness their passion for storytelling and cinematic talents.
The competition invites students to share their unique perspectives through film, creating a story that highlights the number "50" as interpreted from their experiences, culture, and imagination—allowing participants to explore various genres and storytelling techniques.
Through this initiative, the MMFF and FDCP aim to empower the next generation of filmmakers by gathering a wide array of thought-provoking narratives that celebrate Philippine cinema and the milestone of the festival.
Ten (10) outstanding student short films will be selected, with each receiving a cash incentive of Twenty Thousand pesos (PHP 20,000.00). These films will then compete for the top honors, with the following cash prizes awarded to the winners:
- Best Short FIlm: Php 100,000
- 2nd Best Short Film: Php 75,000
- 3rd Best Short Film: Php 50,000
Additionally, the selected films will have the privilege of being showcased alongside this year’s full-length MMFF entries.
