Partners Come Together for Sine Sandaan: 100 Years of PH Cinema Celebration

Agencies, institutions, and stakeholders have united to support the celebration of the 100 years of Philippine Cinema - the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) announced at a press conference on September 6, 2019 at Novotel Hotel Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City. With the actual commemoration of the centennial on September 12, 2019, FDCP will be marking the momentous occasion through the Sine Sandaan: Celebrating the Luminaries of Philippine Cinema in the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.

An homage to the glory days of Philippine cinema, Sine Sandaan serves as a kick-off to the year-long celebration and will be a night of celebrating Philippine cinema's legends, icons, luminaries, and unsung heroes, with a musical and entertainment extravaganza that will highlight our journey of these hundred years. The event is co-presented by CMB Film Services and ABS-CBN and supported through the FDCP’s strengthened partnerships with the Department of Tourism (DOT), Araneta Group, and Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines (FDAP).

Sine Sandaan will be graced by more than 300 of the most influential names in Philippine Cinema, both in front and behind the camera who were integral to the journey and growth of Philippine Cinema. Packed with moving performances that will showcase the journey of the One Hundred Years of Philippine Cinema to commemorate the once-in-a-lifetime milestone for the local film industry, this event honors Jose Nepomuceno's “Dalagang Bukid,” which is considered the first Filipino-produced and directed feature film.

As a nationwide celebration, ABS-CBN Network will be working with FDCP on the coverage and broadcast of the event. “We are truly grateful for everyone's support and acknowledgement of Sine Sandaan, including ABS-CBN who will broadcast the event to ensure that the Filipino audiences nationwide and worldwide will get the chance to witness this once-in-a-lifetime celebration,” said FDCP Chairperson Liza Diño. “We are looking forward to more stakeholders as supporting not just Sine Sandaan for the next year, but the whole of Philippine Cinema. This is the chance to bring everyone together as one film industry!,” she added.
