Tirso S. Cruz III is a multi-awarded film, theater and television actor with a career spanning five decades. He assumed the role of Chairman and CEO of the Film Development Council of the Philippines in July of 2022, under the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

As an actor, he is best noted for his roles in the films “Bilangin Ang Butuin Sa Langit” (FAMAS Best Actor, 1990), “Kahit Buhay Ko” (Film Academy of the Philippines Awards, 1993), “Sigwa” (Cinemalaya, 2011), “Rainbow Sunset”, “Honor Thy Father”, and “Mano Po”. On television, he has immortalized the character of Secretary Arturo Padua in the long-running hit TV show “FPJ’s Ang Probinsiyano”, along with other roles in the shows “Wildlflower”, “General’s Daughter”, and “Valiente”. Chairman Cruz is also a professional singer and concert artist, having 11 record albums to his name.
Chairman’s Cruz’ new vision for the FDCP has education, film industry support and film archiving front and center among its priorities. Streamlining FDCP's existing programs while adapting to the new realities of the cinema art and business in the Philippines and throughout the world, Chairman Cruz leads the national agency for film towards the creation and sustainability of programs that are more inclusive, equitable and globally progressive.
