The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) held an annual month-long observation of the Philippine Film Industry Month to celebrate and commemorate the heritage, significance, and legacy of Philippine Cinema and to highlight the invaluable contribution and sacrifices of all stakeholders and sectors of the Philippine film industry in September as mandated under the Presidential Proclamation No. 1085, series of 2021.

September 12 marks the birth of Philippine Cinema as the first Filipino-directed and produced feature film Dalagang Bukid by Jose Nepomuceno was premiered in 1919.
