FDCP Cinematheque Centres continue to showcase local and international award-winning films this April
MANILA, PHILIPPINES, APRIL 12, 2023 — Bringing local and international cinema closer to cinema enthusiasts and casual viewers, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) showcases local and foreign titles to its Cinematheque Centres across the country this April.
The most awarded film in Cinemalaya International Film Festival 2022 is coming to FDCP Cinematheque Centres to reflect on the realities of a 17-year-old Moro child soldier who dreams of becoming a baseball player, representing how children are the most vulnerable demographic in times of war.
Carlo Obispo’s “The Baseball Player” won multiple awards in Cinemalaya including the Best Film, Best Editing, Best Screenplay, and Best Actor.
With the continued rise of Korean pop culture globally, the FDCP will screen the classic Korean film “Poetry” and the contemporary film “Ajoomma.”
The Cannes 2010 Palme D’Or nominee “Poetry” directed by Lee Chang Dong follows the story of Mija and her journey to write a poem for the first time in her life.
Singapore-South Korea co-production “Ajoomma,” directed by He Shuming, tells the story of Auntie Bee Hua as she embarks on a trip to South Korea because of her obsession with Korean dramas. In 2022, “Ajoomma” won Best Screenplay at the QCinema International Film Festival in the Philippines.
These films will screen in FDCP Cinematheque Centres in Manila, Davao, Iloilo, Nabunturan, and Negros in multiple dates, with ticket prices ranging from PHP150.00 to PHP200.00.
For viewers in the regions, just go to the FDCP Cinematheque Centre near you to watch any of these films. For viewers in Manila, you may book your seats through this link: bit.ly/CCManilaTickets.
By screening both local and international films, the FDCP aims to develop the public’s interest in Filipino and global cinema.
